After funding began in 2023, La Crosse Polytechnic School's 37.3 kW rooftop solar array was completed in July of 2024.
Through the support of grants, in-kind donations and individual donors, students at La Crosse Polytechnic can now view their school's first-ever solar array from right inside their classroom.

As a project-based learning school in the School District of La Crosse, the Polytechnic students develop hands-on advisor-guided projects each year. Next year, some of those projects can delve deeper into the school's new array, which is expected to be installed later this fall. The array will offset roughly 53% of the schools electricity usage, making it one of the cleanest schools in the district and a model for future clean energy projects on La Crosse Schools!
Funding sourced from:
The new federal direct-pay, Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program, a $25,000 grant from the Solar Moonshot Project, and the Couillard Foundation and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association Solar on Schools Grant.
